The Institute of Western Thought (IWT for short) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the endorsement of Western values. As an organization, we advocate for these tenants through education and discussion with everyday individuals, not only nationwide, but worldwide. Our principles are as follows:
- History: Western Civilization traces its roots to ancient Greece, the Roman Empire and with Medieval Western Christendom which emerged from the Middle Ages to experience such transformative episodes as Scholasticism, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, the Scientific Revolution, and the development of liberal democracy.
- Sacred Rites: Western Civilization teaches us that rights are given to us by God rather than government. Thanks to Western Civilization, we have fundamental rights such as free speech, due process, and democratically elected governments. The Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence, and the Geneva Conventions are all achievements brought on by the standards of the West.
- Traditions: Western Civilization gains its strength from its traditions. In order for Western Civilization to prevail, we must keep these traditions strong which include: the preservation of the nuclear family, the importance of hard work and self-reliance, and pride in country and culture.
We at IWT strive to become a uniting force for good. It is our hope that our organization can be a beacon of knowledge that not only educates but inspires others to make a difference in their life and in their community. That way we as a civilization can preserve the ethics, standards, and traditions that have made Western society peaceful, prosperous, and free.
